FASTER BROADBAND ON THE PENINSULA
Fast, reliable broadband is close for residents and businesses in Butley, Boyton and Shingle Street, in the Alde and Ore area. Once demonstrably effective,
the service will rapidly extend to Hollesley, the entire Wilford Peninsula, and the Alde and Ore estuaries.

Buzcom, already providing wireless broadband services to Maldon and other parts of rural Essex, is the chosen supplier. They are currently preparing to
deliver services, requiring no phone line, to be offered early in 2012, for £12.25 per month. For a little extra, customers can have voice phone as well.
For more information see: www.fibrewifi.com, or email info@fibrewifi.com; or ANNE@PAGES2.ADSL24.CO.UK.
This new service is being offered thanks to a capital grant from the Rural Development Programme run by the EU, the former EEDA and DEFRA,
supplemented by contributions from Alde and Ore Futures, Bawdsey and other Parish Councils. In 2010, frustrated by slow and unreliable broadband services
in the area, and following a public meeting and widespread surveys, local residents formed the Wilford Broadband Group. It is chaired by Cllr Christine Block,
with Fred Stentiford, Ray Kay, George Franks, Jamie Greenwell, David McGinity, and Bruce Page as members, representing a broad group of local villages
and communities.

         BROADBAND SURVEY

How important is being able to access the Internet to you? Do you work from home or run a business? Are you a school or college student who needs
to find information quickly or send documents? Are you a grey surfer who keeps in touch with family and friends? Do you and your family download
music, films, TV programmes for leisure use?

In the competitive environment of work and business, particularly, it's important that people who choose to live and work in rural areas like Hollesley
don't get left behind in the race to acquire faster and faster Broadband. That's why we've decided to conduct our own survey of Broadband users
in our villages. It's as a result of a talk given to the Parish Council on October 6 by our new County Councillor, Andrew Reid. He's pushing
for government funds allocated for high-speed/fibre optic Broadband to be spent in his patch. It would help his campaign if he had statistics on who
uses Broadband and why, so when we get your answers we'll pass them onto him.

Want to take part in our survey? Just email Angela Lawrence on : lawrencemediapr@aol.com and answer these six basic questions:

              1. Do you run a business and use the Internet ?
              2. Do you work from home ?
              3. Are you a student who relies on the Internet for information ?
              4. Would you like faster Broadband for you or your family's leisure use of your Internet ?
              5. How important is the Internet to you ?
              6. What speed did your provider promise and what are you actually getting ?

If you want to tell us about your Broadband problems we'd be happy to hear them.
